About

This course examines ethics as they pertain to the Professional Practice of Massage Therapy. You will learn how ethics are defined for the profession and how they differ and relate to society’s laws, values and morals. You will learn the standards of acceptable and professional behavior, their importance, and the importance of maintaining professional boundaries. This course will also provide you with valuable information regarding the treatment of abuse victims and finally provide a full review of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork’s code of ethics. Course Objectives: By the completion of this course you will be able to: 1. Define ethics in your own words 2. Explain the difference between laws, morals and ethics 3. List at least 5 standards of acceptable and profession behavior 4. Define personal and professional boundaries 5. Define a professional boundary violation 6. Explain why accepting a gift from a client is unprofessional 7. Explain why treating victims of abuse may require special consideration and supervision 8. List 3 NCBTMB standards of Business Practices 9. List 3 NCBTMB Legal and Ethical requirements 10. List 3 NCBTMB standards for Confidentiality
